In this dynamic and engaging presentation, behavioral health care practitioner, author, and speaker Joyce Marter will share practical tips and strategies for behavioral healthcare leaders to help themselves and their organizations recover from burnout and compassion fatigue during times of chronic stress and uncertainty. Participants will receive practical tools and strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices to promote mental wellness, work-life balance, emotional intelligence, and resilience. Attendees will leave this session feeling refreshed and inspired to practice conscious leadership to cultivate compassionate and collaborative workplace cultures that retain valuable team members.

Joyce Marter has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 1998 and is an expert in self-esteem, mindfulness and career development. She is the founder of Urban Balance, a counseling practice she started and grew to over 100 clinicians working from ten locations in three states during her 13-year tenure as CEO. She successfully sold Urban Balance to Refresh Mental Health in 2017 and serves as Chief Brand Ambassador for this national leader in outpatient mental health. Joyce maintains a limited practice and is Adjunct Faculty at The Family Institute at Northwestern University where she has served as a Clinical Supervisor since 2005. Learn more about Joyce Marter, LCPC.  

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Participants will receive a burnout self-assessment and be able to distinguish burnout from compassion fatigue and stress.
  • Participants will receive tools to help staff improve self-care, access more support, and improve workplace satisfaction and work-life balance.
  • Participants will understand how to cultivate conscious leadership that is empathetic and emotionally intelligent.
  • Participants will learn strategies to strengthen the organization's mission, community, and support resources to attract and retain staff.
