State Capital Budget Announced |
On Tuesday, May 24, the DeWine administration announced the proposed $3.3 billion capital budget for the next two years, including an estimated $163.5 million for community projects in various parts of the state that are proposed by legislators.
According to the governor’s office, the capital budget, which is funded through debt financing, is traditionally used for renovation or construction projects at state-owned buildings, school districts, and public colleges; infrastructure grants and loans to local governments; and direct funding of community projects of local or regional importance. The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services has requested up to $74.6 million for renovating state psychiatric hospitals, supporting recovery housing, and other projects.
