Site Visits to Begin in Late Summer for Medicaid Providers of SUD Residential Treatment

OhioMHAS and the Ohio Department of Medicaid have selected Burns & Associates Division of Health Management Associates (HMA) to perform site visits to each Medicaid-enrolled provider certified by OhioMHAS for residential and withdrawal management SUD services as required under the 1115 waiver.

HMA will assess providers’ readiness for OAC 5122-29-09 (effective July 1, 2023), familiarize themselves with the operational needs of providers related to the rule, and give technical assistance to help providers prepare for the rule’s implementation.

On-site reviews are scheduled to begin in late summer 2022 and continue through spring 2023. A final report is expected next summer. In the coming weeks, HMA will begin reaching out to SUD residential treatment providers to schedule visits, validate basic provider information, and brief providers on what materials to prep in advance of the visits. ODM and OhioMHAS will continue to provide project updates at the Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting for Ohio’s Medicaid 1115 SUD Demonstration Waiver and through targeted communications. Questions regarding the project should be directed to [email protected] with “On-Site Review” as the subject line. Click here to read the complete MITS Bits from June 28.
