Rescheduled: Ohio Department of Insurance to Join Ohio Parity Coalition Meeting |
The Ohio Council leads the Ohio Parity Coalition, a group of stakeholders and advocates working to raise awareness and strengthen enforcement of the state and federal insurance parity laws. The Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) will be joining the upcoming Parity Coalition meeting (rescheduled for August 25) to share updates about its new parity-focused Ombuds office dedicated to coordinating and responding to MH/SUD parity-related questions and complaints.
ODI is also tentatively expected to share information and preliminary results from a parity review it conducted of the various health insurance plans operating within Ohio. The review is expected to include not only an analysis of the plans’ non-quantitative treatment limits (NQTLs) but also an actuarial review and comparison of the reimbursement rates offered in Ohio. The findings of the parity review and report will be a catalyst for future advocacy by the Parity Coalition and The Ohio Council.
