Moderna Requests Authorization for Vaccine for Children Under 6

In late March, Moderna requested the U.S. FDA to authorize a reduced-dose version of its COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 6 months to 6 years. The smaller two-shot vaccine would be equal to 25% of the of the vaccine dosage given to adults. There is no timeline yet for when the children’s vaccine might receive approval, though the company has publicly stated that it is confident the shots work to protect children from the virus.
