Federal Judge Blocks DOL Overtime Rule In a ruling issued November 15th, Judge Sean D. Jordan of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas blocked the Department of Labor Overtime rule that went into effect in July 1, 2024. This ruling applies nationwide, halting implementation of the second salary level increase that was to come into effect January 1, 2025 and likely reverting the salary threshold to the previous 2019 level of $35,568 per year. It is possible the decision could be appealed by the Biden Administration. The 2019 overtime salary level was set under the first Trump administration and it is unclear how the incoming Trump administration will proceed. Judge Jordan was nominated to the bench under the first Trump administration. We will continue to monitor this issue and share additional information as it becomes available. |
