Governor DeWine Signs Capital Bill into Law |
On Monday, June 14, Governor Mike DeWine signed HB 687, the capital appropriations bill, into law. The bill makes appropriations totaling $3.51 billion for state fiscal years 2023-2024. The capital budget directs resources in support of state infrastructure projects, including colleges, universities, and school districts. It also provides funds to support targeted community projects of local or regional importance.
HB 687 provides more than $92 million for mental health and addiction services across the state and in local communities. The bill includes support for renovations and improvements at state psychiatric hospitals and funding for recovery housing, community behavioral health facilities, and other supportive community programs. Per the governor’s office, the funding in the capital bill focuses on projects supporting treatment and recovery, risk reduction, improved quality of care, and enhancing partnerships in communities.
