Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, Inc., is a private non-profit agency, providing continuous service to the community since 1971. At every level from prevention to residential recovery services, we offer a message of hope to individuals, families, groups, and entire communities. The Center provides a wide range of services for adults whose lives have been affected by their own or another’s use of alcohol or other drugs, by problem gambling, or by mental illness. Licensed, trained professionals offer support, education, and counseling to individuals, families, businesses, other service providers, and the community at large. Our goal for treatment services is to help individuals achieve long-term recovery and an improved quality of life. Our mission is to promote lifelong recovery from addiction through education, prevention, and treatment regardless of ability to pay. Full-Time Development Officer QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in a related area from an accredited College or University.
  • Minimum five years relevant professional experience, including major gift fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated success and evidence of ability to plan and execute a fund drive and to think creatively about giving opportunities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all major facets of a development operation, including annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, special events, donor database applications and event planning.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including ability to write and speak persuasively about the organization and its mission. Must be comfortable with one-on-one communication and possess the ability to interact with diverse groups.
  • Computer knowledge including Donor Perfect, Microsoft Office and various social media.
  • Comfortable in both a leadership and team player role.
  • Goal oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and addiction treatment for adults/families preferred.
  • Flexibility in work hours based on agency needs and meeting job demands. 

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • The Development Officer provides development and fundraising direction to Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers. The Development Officer reports directly to the President & CEO, and is responsible for the creation of annual and long-range fund raising plans, and for the implementation and evaluation of the performance of these plans.
  • Plans coordinates, assures implementation and evaluates all marketing and fundraising strategies to develop donors, raise awareness and increase contributions to the agency.
  • Formulates short and long term goals for development and fundraising efforts of the organization.
  • Develops actionable strategies for meeting and exceeding those goals through grants, sponsorships, gifts, donations, and fundraising events.
  • Oversees development via annual campaigns, capital campaigns, planned giving, major gifts and grants targeting a variety of external sources including individuals, corporations, foundations and other stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains a donor data base system that is current and accurate regarding donor information, gift solicitation, gift entry and gift acknowledgement.
  • Cultivate and maintains relationships with major donors.
  • Raises positive awareness of the agency and its mission through active participation in outreach efforts, regular events in the community, publications and media.
  • Coordinates all public relations through the design and development of promotional and marketing activities, administer/ maintain website and social media, scheduled periodic external communication, i.e. newsletters, donor newsletter, press releases, etc.
  • Oversees special events for Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, including but not limited to fundraising events.
  • Coordinates and prepares the agency Annual Report.
  • Maintains agency mailing list.
  • Assists with grant requests as needed,
  • Effectively operate within budget constraints.
  • Establishes and maintains solid working relationships with Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers’ Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrates ability to protect client rights to privacy and confidentiality in the preparation and handling of Development records, especially in the communication of client information to the media.
  • Abides by agency code of ethics and follows established agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all state or federal regulations and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics regarding the acceptance of gifts, and the dissemination of funds; maintains accurate and confidential records.
  • Prepares, as requested, progress reports for the CEO and Development Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Maintains membership in any relevant organizations.
