6/14/19 - A New Push Aims to Bring Mental Health and Addiction into the 2020 Campaign Conversation

In light of a new focus on the behavioral health issues facing the nation, 2020 presidential candidates are under pressure to create comprehensive plans. A new nonpartisan group, Mental Health for US, seeks to push candidates in both parties to be more vocal about their policy ideas to improve mental healthcare through plans such as expanding Medicare/ lowering the price of prescription drugs. This group is a new collaboration created through the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Jed Foundation. The group’s policy platform will remain focused on three areas: prevention, access and intervention, and recovery. The group will host events, develop resources, and get people involved during this critical campaign season.
